Virtual care

We offer at this time virtual care options by secure videoconferencing (“telepsychology”) or telephone. In person meetings can be arranged in the future, on the case-by-case basis. Telepsychology is just like in-person therapy, except you see your therapist by secure video on your device. Virtual therapy has been proven by research to be as effective as face-to-face therapy. We use software with secure end-to-end encryption, which meets requirements for the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), and sessions are never recorded. The same limits of confidentiality would apply in virtual therapy as in in-person therapy. At the end of each session, we will provide you with a password-protected receipt that will include the information about the session, and the psychologist’s registration number.

If you live outside of the GTA, or find travel to the clinic to be too costly or time-consuming, virtual therapy also allows you to skip the travel time.

While most insurers do cover virtual therapy, they vary in their policies, so please reach out to them directly to confirm that your coverage extends to virtual psychological services. It is important to use a secure internet connection rather than public/free Wi-Fi and a private space to ensure confidentiality.
